In a UNESCO report it was announced that Peru had amoung the lowest scores for providing education. The biggest issue being accessibility of schools and resources. The children in the shanty towns are especially at risk because they do not have access to important educational resources, making it difficult for them to receive a good education.

Cristo Obrero Church, now under Fr. Joel Palomino, has been working to provide educational services to this community for the past 37 years. CAFE is helping them support a mobile library. CAFE provides funds to cover expenses including transportation, resource materials and supervision.

Supported since 2006, the mobile library services shanty towns that have no access to library services. A van transports tables, chairs, books and audio/visual resources. Program supervisors set up for 8 hour sessions and engage in reading, spelling, drawing, movies, popular theatre and handcrafts. New this year the team is offering help in math and reading. CAFE is happy to maintain support for this important program.
